A cuddly fleece no-sew blanket

Fleece BlanketThe other day I was going through my fabric stash. As I have committed to sewing only from my stash for the month of May, I was fabric “shopping” to sew a mini summer capsule for my ever growing boy!

And my Oh my!!!!

I was overflowing with ideas! I had thought of at least 2-3 projects for each piece of fabric! Then I was so overwhelmed that I shut the closet doors. Maybe this is why I have accumulated so much fabric. I buy it for a specific project and then I get so many other ideas that I can’t decide on a specific project.

But I digress.

Having the closet doors closed I sat down, pencil to paper, and made a list of the things that I wanted to sew. Then, I opened them and chose my fabrics. As I was rearranging my piles to get to the fabrics that I intended to use, my eyes were caught by this orange fleece remnant.

Fleece Blanket

Originally, bought for a costume it had been in my stash since forever. On an impulse, I took it out and unfolded it. My first thought was to cut it in small-ish pieces and use it as protectors between my glass Tupperware and pots and pans. Suddenly, a picture of my son cuddling with a blanket made by it, crossed my mind and before I knew it I had already started cutting it up.

As you probably already know this type of fabric does not fray at all; meaning that there is no need to sew to make this blanket!

If you want to make one for your littles as well this is what you need:

Fleece fabric of choice measuring 150cm wide and 100cm long

Sharp scissors

Fold your fabric in the middle length-wise. Square up your sides.

To make the fringe measure 2 inches from the bottom and draw a line. Then draw ½ “ segments. Cut along your markings. Alternatively, you can sew the trimming of your choice either on the edges or all around your blanket. Additionally, you can applique the top with the design of your choice. The possibilities are endless.

However, you choose to decorate your blanket have fun with it. And if you share it on social media please tag me so I can see it. Or use the hashtag  #fleeceblanket.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
